As a part of the greater discipline of photography, architectural photography certainly takes in its own special place.
I have learned to look “differently” at things because of my own architectural family ties: my father and my brother.
Gemaakt in opdracht van de afdeling Bouwzaken van de Gemeente Amstelveen, die zowel bouwwerken laat uitvoeren als bestaande objecten in hun gemeente beheert.
De foto’s dienen ter profilering van deze afdeling, die sinds enige tijd als zelfstandig bedrijf functioneert.
Some examples: a fire station, an office building and a primary school gym.
Het ene bureau geeft mij geheel de vrije hand; het andere bepaalt liefst tot in detail elk standpunt en wil tijdens de uitvoering van de opdracht naast de fotograaf staan.
One of the lessons I’ve learned is that architects are seldom pleased when confronted with a completely new vision on their creations, i.e. the result of the photographer’s own artistic adventures.
(Of course there are circumstances when such freedom of expression is appreciated.) Close consultation with my clients is important to me and I listen carefully to what they have to say.
